As in previous incarnations and performance works directly inspired by Artaud’s writings beginning with the Live Electronic Dissections series of the 1980s (performed by The Diastolic Murmurs) or the remote performances Theurgy – Messe Basse in the 90s or in the work Ordieu (2008) composed for the launch of Stephen Barber’s book Artaud: Terminal Curses, I am attempting once more to make contact with the imagined body of Artaud after death.

Radio Tarahumara – Tutuguri came into being through an invitation to participate in the exhibition Soundscapes Mexico – UK 2015, at the Fonoteca Nacional de Mexico – Conaculta, 23 July – 12 September 2015. Curated by Laura Plana Gracia (Laura Netz). On this occasion the work was experienced as an immersive audio-visual installation.

In this new mix of Radio Tarahumara – Tutuguri for the Visconti Studio, I am exploring further a sonic and visual deliria of spectral voices, signs and apparitions both psychic and imaginary that haunted Artaud after his journey in 1936 to México, to the country and rituals of the Tarahumara Indians and that would be an influence on his later writings in the asylum at Rodez and beyond…
